We started our portfolio in 1989 with California
producers who challenged the quality and style of old
world models. Our portfolio grew as the growers and
winemakers with whom we had the good fortune to become
involved early on recommended others of like mind, and
as we followed the best fruit and the best talents in
their often adventurous travels. We still represent
artisans whose wines reflect their terroir - that unique
imprint of selected vineyard locations, clones and
rootstock - as well as the care, passion and stylistic
vision of these exceptional individuals.
Today, most of our collaborators are celebrated
for the quality of their wine and the roles they
have played in establishing an international
reputation for California wine. We and the
vintners we represent subscribe to the belief
that wines are made in the vineyard.
Certainly, care in the cellar can bring out the
best from a winemaker's skills, but cannot
replace what was never there.
